The ending pulled it all together but something other than a “lap dance” in the driver’s seat of a car did not seem to work as it should have. I’m sure you have an alternate take for that last scene.

Extremely tasteless and with superfluous performances.

I don't understand why people were so surprised to see this film nominated for a Best Picture Emmy. It was brilliant. There was nothing gratuitous or unnecessary about the sexual content, itwas a fully necessary component of the story, and was made richer by it. This film is gritty, deep, challenging, meaningful, and so much more. As much as it claims to be a Cinderella tale gone wrong, it's more verismo than it is fantasy. It is a morality play for our times.

Nothing more than a boring pornfest with a Russian flavor. I felt absolutely zero connection with any of the actors in the movie, and it got to a point where I was looking at the clock to see how much time was left. Sometimes I feel like the positive reviews were for a different movie.

This review contains spoilers. Essentially, this is a Cinderella story, but not watered down. We are generally given a version of Cinderella where the prince chooses the poor girl. The movie explicitly references this fairytale, and we can see the movie as having two parts. The first part is Cinderella playing the part of the prince’s wife, and part two is watching the whole farce implode. The concept here is pretty clear: What if Cinderella were placed in a real world context? What are her actual chances of escaping poverty? There are moments where you find yourself laughing, but really you want to cry for this poor girl much of the time. It’s interesting trying to read reviews from people who didn’t like it. It’s clear that this is a high brow art film. An art film that is willing to laugh at itself. Even though this movie reads as a drama about poverty, people without a bachelors degree will probably walk away scratching their heads. Because this film drew a lot of hype, a surprisingly large number of people that have no interest in this type of film tried to watch it and didn’t get it. There is something funny about the fact that movies about poverty are frequently made for the upper-middle class. This is an observation and not a criticism. The rich are not depicted in a favorable light. They are careless and heartless. Igor ends up being the savior in the film, and he is tragically not a Prince Charming. That is the tragedy. It’s why the film works for the arthouse crowd. It worked for me, but I wouldn’t watch it if you don’t like to overthink your films, despite it having a lot of lighthearted moments. TLDR; if you are into art films about poverty, this is for you. If you are trying to watch it because of the “hype,” you will be very confused and find it boring.

It was certainly one of, if not the worst work I have had the displeasure of watching.

I can't believe this POS won an Oscar. If they removed the "F" word from the script, the whole thing would be over in 20 minutes. Take out the gratuitous nudity and you'd be done to 7 minutes.

it was a very enjoyable movie. long time since I haven't seen a movie this good.

It was alright, but it wasn't anything unique. It was rather trashy. The old theme of a stripper trying to just find love and respect is overdone.
