I don't know why this is so highly rated. It's basically Pretty Woman, but if it had full nudity, regular explicit sex, drug usage, violence, and a whole lot more swearing, but instead of a "happily ever after", the 'prince's' mobster parents (I use the term prince only in the context of the HEA metaphor), turn up, he runs away like misbehaving child, and the rest of the film is them going around town swearing and threatening people to find him so the obvious 'child acting out' sham wedding can be annulled. The best thing about this movie is the poor guy she bites on the neck but who still spends the time looking out for her. I recommend to skip first 30mins which is all just sex and drugs, crescendo'd with a trip to Vegas for more sex and drugs and a spur of the minute wedding, then skim watch the rest which is them swearing at each other and trashing places looking for the runaway.... but honestly, save yourself and just skip it altogether.

A overly-long film filled starring nihilistic, immoral, greedy, drug-crazed fools. I went to it in hope that it would filfill a review I read that said it was great, modern Cindrella story. It was nothing of the sort. Just a depraved series of events that lead nowhere, except to their inevitable disppointment and private hell. Is that the message? Apparently not, seeing as the plot is supposed to appeal to aupposed comedy of the plot. Any sensuality is killed immediately by their superficial vices. The characters are seeminly beyond redemption, except maybe Vanya's parents who are also wicked and indifferent. What is the message of this film? Money buys only pain? There is one guy who shows himselt toward the end to be the one hope for Anora, the hooker/stirpper, who is really only a dumb white knight.

While it has perhaps a too long beginning, after that Anora goes full speed in a farsic comedy well planned, correctly crafted and enjoyable. The profile of each character is drawn in an exact fashion, and its portraying by the cast is superb. No one goes beyond the others and no one is shadowed, but their interrelationship works perfectly. Kudos to the writer/director for that twin achievement!

Very good film, but the ending is the literal definition of MISERY PORN.

I absolutely do not understand these reviews. It was so boring and I couldn’t wait for it to end. There is zero likability for any of the characters and I kept thinking something more was going to happen and then the movie finally ends. I wasn’t left wanting more because it was so long and boring. I was left wanting to get the heck out of the theater.

How is Emilia Perez the front runner for all these awards instead of this incredible movie?

In a year of some pretty darn good films, Anora is, hands down, the best.

Full of cliches and boring. The story line is for teenagers, and what happened to the dialogue ?

The best part is that the movie attained the unexpected depth by not steering clear of the usual and trite story line.

I saw the reviews and was exited to see this flick. So disappointed. The first 45 minutes was nothing but sex scenes. No character development. The final excruciating 1.5 hours was frantic screaming and B grade attempts at grade school gags. All of which were not funny. We talked about leaving early. Wish we had. The only redeeming scenes in the movie were the final 20 minutes. Do yourself and your bank balance a favour by giving this one a miss.
