Cheech & Chong's Last Movie

The director of “Last Movie,” David L. Bushell, is working with the usual stuff of documentaries -- news clippings, archival footage, talking heads -- but has put a fresh and funky spin on these.

This is still a rollicking account that will make even non-herbally-inclined viewers root for the fellows.

With a fine blend of archival footage, stylized animation, and a genuine depiction of their 50-year working relationship, Last Movie proves these immortal potheads still hit.

The film is oddly (and unexpectedly) touching at its end, as the two bicker and then hug it out.

They were ahead of their time in SO many ways, comedically and culturally, which makes the fact that “Last Movie” feels stuck in the ‘70s and ‘80s all the more disappointing.

Cheech and Chong’s Last Movie is a tad lengthy with its very detailed timeline, but it held the audience’s attention anyway.

Sadly, if Cheech & Chong stays true to the film’s title and makes this their last movie, it strikes a disappointing note on which to end this talented duo’s cinematic career.

The documentary Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie is an enjoyable walk down memory lane with two fun tour guides. It’s a detailed, even sober contemplation of the stoner comedian’s career and impact on comedy.

It makes for a reasonably entertaining look back at their careers while at the same time making a convincing case for their inclusion in the comedy pantheon
