Ballerina

Ballerina is a mixed bag, one that takes far too much time to get going. But when it does, this latest foray into the insane world of the High Table has plenty to offer.

The unwieldy title's a clue to an unwieldy structure, but director Len Wiseman provides mayhem enough to keep fans occupied until John Wick 5 arrives.

This movie is more or less two hours of Eve killing people. The plot is full of holes and the only good lines in the script come when John Wick reappears.

The sense of aimlessness is an issue with so many spin-offs... Ballerina ultimately succeeds as a piece of junky fun, however, because it attempts to expand the Wick canon rather than deepen its titular protagonist.

A Wick-edly entertaining addition to one of cinema’s best action franchises.

Possibly the most derivative, uninspired and pointless FAK (female ass-kicker) movie of them all.

This isn’t the start of a new franchise. It’s just a producer’s way of getting more mileage out of a vehicle whose driver has already moved on.

Ballerina is a solid addition to the John Wick universe, anchored by thrilling action and a surprisingly layered lead performance from Ana de Armas.

The action builds slowly, then explodes like a Molotov in ballet flats. Stay for the second half — it’s worth it.
