Lee

, 94% Audience Score- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThis was disappointing as the real Lee Miller story is extraordinary. I expected to feel the horrors of war and see an intensely passionate portrayal of Miller, but Winslett's portrayal didn't feel genuine or authentic. There was a disconnect on an emotional level. This could have been a wonderful movie, but I think the story and the portrayal could have been much better. Considering her complicated life, this story could make a wonderful miniseries.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAbsolute watch this film. So good.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsA plodding film, uninspired character development, dull and lacking any energy in performances, I expected to feel engaged in the story, unfortunately I was very disappointed, a rehash job of revisited scenes, with nothing new, Kate's portrayal of Lee, a restless passionate woman, was wooden and listless, and devoid of sass, shame, I sat through the film waiting for something.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe best movie I have seen in 2024 so far. It is called a standard biopic but that is not to its detriment. This is a remarkable story told with poetry and honesty. How refreshing to have a war film from a female perspective. Kate Winslet poured her heart and apparently her money as well into Lee in what was created is very beautiful IMO. This is a small movie but I hope Kate Winslet gets her flowers. She is truly astounding and captivating throughout.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsA fantastic story, well acted and powerfully shot. The story follow Lee from pre war, told from an interesting perspective - reminiscing with 'someone' whom becomes revealed as the story progresses. While to story is a little slow in places - the trailers have squeezed in all the action - it's more poignant than an action war genre flick and the ending leaves you in no doubt of that and will have you sitting through the credits.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsA silly movie about an extraordinary woman who lived an extraordinary and captured the worst of humanity. Who would have thought you could take such a valuable story and make a rubbish film with it? And, what was with that irrelevant plot twist at the end?? What a waste of an important story
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsSuch a slow tedious first 30 minutes or so and her new best boyfriend is so lame. Dreadful casting. Winslet is fine but really.. so many closeups and cigarettes. Did BAT sponsor this flick? Some good scenes ruined by stupid errors. For example, when two are in the camps and gagging with protection over their mouths, everyone else is wandering around without a problem. A potentially great film badly made.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe movie of the year. Kate Winslet is phenomenal and deserves an Oscsr. She is always amazing but this role seems extra special to her and she knocks it out of the park. Lee is a historical drama that is somewhat slow paced but never boring. Her life is so interesting and this film does her justice. I cried so much at the end. For all the women have erased from history and from my own trauma as well. Andy Samberg is a nice surprise as well. His chemistry with Winslet is the best duo you will see this year.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starscinematography, set design, and some of the cast are such that the film should be outstanding. but it isn’t. the actors struggle with amateur dialogue and it just has an amateur vibe. so much so it’s distracting. add to that the film is used as a vehicle to lecture the audience on men / women equality and a celebration and embracing of low morals I don’t feel anyone really needs. the characters are not in any way virtuous and not compelling in the way protagonists should be. the movie wants to be a big deal but it just lectures the audience with the voice of a self-absorbed amateur with an ego.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsOh dear, Alexander Skarsgård's accent was so off-putting (I'm English). Rest of the film was a bit predictable and prosaic, rather muddled and directionless in places. Not sure Kate Winslet was particularly suited to the role. All a bit one-dimensional.
