M3GAN

M3GAN rollicks along with all the slickness and shocks you’d expect from a film produced by Insidious’s James Wan. It always keeps you in on the joke -- and it’s a killer joke.

I love this movie so much, and had the absolute best time.

The ending is predictable, as it is on a roller coaster, but it's a thrilling ride all the same. For Wan's Atomic Monster Productions and Blumhouse Productions it may be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

M3gan is an enjoyable horror-lite romp: knowing, amusing, but not particularly scary.

What really gives M3GAN resonance are the connections with our addiction, as both children and adults, to electronic hand-held devices.

This won't pop up on any top ten lists by the end of the year, but for a genre film released in a month typically reserved as a dumping ground for studios, this is all you could hope for.

Though all the special effects and artificial intelligence on display awe, the plot’s intentionally ludicrous second half and its mix of genres (comedy, horror and sci-fi) leave the film devoid of much needed conviction and substance.

A brilliantly fun juggling act of eerie themes, campy humour and sincere drama, there is something for everyone here.

Films like M3GAN provide the right amount of clap-inducing ridiculousness you would want from a film about a killer toy that, ultimately, looks like Chucky's nepo-baby.

This is a very well made and entertaining horror film, maybe the best I've seen since 'The Invisible Man' (2020).
