Memoir of a Snail

A moving, off-color story about hope in the face of suffering, Memoir of A Snail is above all a love letter to the wallflowers and homebodies among us&#59; the people who sometimes feel more like snails curled up inside their shells than human beings.

The humility is central to the appeal of this deeply felt feature, easily one of the best films in a year that has been the cinematic analogue of Grace and Gilbert’s childhood.

Explores themes including loneliness, grief and sadness, as well as love, hope and taking better care of yourself, and he does it in a distinct way.

Very depressing but it did win me over in the end. I love the animation

The detail to craft is impossible to ignore. Where it stands apart from its ilk, though, is the darkly comic subject matter that pulls zero punches.
