This one is a beauty, so moving. And the penguins are just lovely. Jean Reno as never seen before. Love it.

A great movie! A must-see because it is based on a true story. At the end of the movie you will see the real Joao and Dindim. Absolutely beautiful and moving! Dindim swam 5 thousand miles between Patagonia, Argentina and Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil every year for 8 consecutive years to visit his human friend Joao.

My Penguin Friend is a cute movie about an unlikely friendship. It has little objectionable content and is suitable for the entire family. Be aware, it is slow-moving and some children will have trouble sitting through the entire film.

A very sweet movie, based on facts, which brings a bit of hope and faith into humanity again (with some serious doubts close to the end). Fortunately it isn't a tear quencher as the trailer makes one believe, but you surely be pardoned if you get wet eyes in certain scenes. Animal lovers will definitely be touched. Naturally there is some CGI involved as not even the best animal trainer could get a penguin doing death defying stunts. But as most other scenes are apparently real life footage, it's a very heart warming film for any friend of nature and wild animals. 7/10 points. One odd thing to complain was the fact that the movie was shot in English. A story happening to 98% in Brazil should not have people talking English, and being subtitled in Portuguese. That's a ridiculous joke. Besides that, the dialogues are mostly very poor. It's like a teenager would have written them in English, used Google Translate to dub everything into Portuguese and then use another translator to dub it back into English. Nobody talks like that in Brazil, and definitely not in the region of Rio de Janeiro. I guess the major problem is that a European production company bought the rights to the story, insisting that it'll be filmed in English, with a big international star, and then used a Brazilian director, who, very unfortunately, gave it too much of a feel of a telenovela. It's not bad, but the whole mix is quirky and doesn't really fit together as a whole. So my high 7/10 points are mainly for the basic loving story, not so much for its transformation into a movie
