A horror movie that focuses more on psychological and atmospheric creepiness than gore and jump scares. A very enjoyable reimagining of the almost-lost classic and a welcome deviation from the usual Dracula story. Excellent make-up effects on Count Olaf, and even better sound design that makes the bloodsucking sound so visceral and violent.

Why don’t they speak German in Germany? It’s 2024, how are subtitles still such a problem in mainstream films? You want it to be accurate then speak the correct language. Like Smile (2022) everything is framed in the middle like they are following a trend or making it easier to watch vertically on a phone. It’s making my eyes lazy, they just stare into the middle. The blocking is especially awkward and unnatural. It has a very unengaging start which quickly made me wish I was watching Nosferatu (1922). I didn’t like the casting. It is so slow, it takes 30 minutes to get interesting but then quickly stops being interesting abruptly. I can’t think of a more pretentious film in recent years. It looks beautiful though. I think it’s so inaccessible for general audiences including myself. It’s hard to tell what’s going on sometimes. This film dances between laughably pretentious overacted nonsense that I suspect won’t age well like Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) and actually quite entertaining horror. It’s a shame there’s way more of the former than the latter. It’s so hard to engage as it’s so choreographed and devoid of personality. I regard this as beautiful candy and nothing more. This film reminds me of a hard videogame level that you are determined to finish but no matter how hard you try you can’t finish it and it never ends. I eventually finished it after like six attempts.

It was an interesting movie, not one I would pay to see twice. The cinematography was amazing though

Now, my new favorite movie adaptation of Dracula.

A bit overhyped, could have had a lot of potential if it was a bit scarier. The atmosphere in this movie was well done, and the acting was great. But honestly, it was a bit boring.

More atmospheric than scary but a nice variation on the Dracula story

Tras Nosferatu, Robert Eggers arriesga a quedar como el pony de un solo truco (The Witch. 2015). Su truco es doble si, claro, se incluye The Lighthouse (2019). También aplaudible. No he visto de The Northman.

I am not and never was a big fan of horror moovies. But this masterpiece is one of my top experiences. Finally a horror moovie that doen't rely only on jumpscares. The atmosphere, the costumes, the sound design all comes perfectly together in this dark mixture of an old folklore legend. Absolutely recommend it an amazing moovie.

It was so weird and cringe we turned it off.

Beautiful. Shooting style was gorgeous. An amazing meditation on sacrifice and love. The character design of Nosferatu was incredible. Definitely a great remake and always looking forward to the madness Bill Skarsgard channels in his roles like this.
