Smile 2
audience Reviews
, 81% Audience Score- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsYeah, as several people found, it's bigger and better than the first one. But there are some aspects of the first that I didn't like that I also saw in this sequel: traces of clunky dialogue, plus overboard and corny special effects. However, I appreciate how it's one of the few true horror films in that I felt genuine horror throughout the film. Not a pleasurable film-watching experience, but still a worthwhile one.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsYo this movie is golden. I love it
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsMain actress was incredible! I believe her acting abilities are outstanding. Love the film!
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsWhaat!! This was even worse than the first, by jove. Why make another bad film. This one really lost the plot and felt super rushed, simple mistakes, quick editing, and hideous soundtracks, I couldn't. This is a serious disaster. No, NO, NOO!!
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsPractically a repeat of the original in form with some slight differences in content. Kind of reminded me of Halloween: Resurrection in how it gets off to a promising start but goes downhill from there. Naomi Scott does her best here but the material lets her down, and the film just cannot overcome a lousy second act. Why should viewers give a hoot when they know there is no chance for the protagonist to prevail? At least the original had that hope. How many sequels will Paramount squeeze out of this lemon before people finally get tired of watching the same movie over and over again?
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsGreat acting. Story and the mind games were too all over the place. Maybe better to have a lead of a different demographic, but maybe that's just the target audience. First one was better across the board though.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsA flimsy plot loosely held together by a few jump-scares and countless cliche horror tropes.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsJust finished watching Smile 2 the other day. What i think worked about this movie for me is how the demon distorted Skye's sense of reality. The movie even curated a successful jump that made me audibly scream. I also liked that the directors changed the demon's appearance but it was horrific in the best way. What didn't work for me was the obvious fake special effects makeup and prosthetics for the gory scenes. I am neutral to the fact that the directors reused the same exact plot and same tricks from the first movie, but I supposed thats what made it so popular in the beginning. If you have a successful movie formula, why change it? In the end, I did enjoy the movie. It served its purpose and provided enough entertainment and worth a watch. I wouldn't really think about giving it a second watch as this sequel didn't have the same hook as the first movie, but I digress.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsAlthough the first 10/20 minutes were set up REALLY well and although as a stand alone it could have been pretty enticing, considering it was off the first smile it would have been better if we had slight history or back story about what the demonic thing is.
