The Alto Knights
audience Reviews
, 71% Audience Score- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsDon't believe the jaded film critics. The Alto Knights is an excellent film - the story and acting are superb. If you appreciate Robert DeNiro's acting, in general, you will love watching this movie. Directed by the great Barry Levinson.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsGarbage , he was better on the view
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsWhat a waste of of 2 hours, I love DeNiro, and I guess he did his best in this movie to make the film work, but oh! , it’s a total drudge form start to finish, more of a documentary, I didn’t want a history lesson, just some DeNiro action, what a flop. Don’t waste your money.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsVery Very Good Film. Love the narration, the editing, the Cinematography, the acting, the directing, the production design. Overall a fantastic film. The story is well written and recounts the events taking you through the 1950's 60's & 70's. Classic Mobster movie done in very good taste. Not a whole lot of explosions, gunfire, shootouts, or bloody murders. I can probably count on one hand how many people were taken out on camera. This movie is incredibly refreshing and does it's job as a well told story. it is interesting, a bit thought provoking, a history lesson, a bit funny and a little bit sad. Not a huge emotional rollercoaster, but not every movie needs to have you emotionally wound up. there seems to be a lot of bad reviews around this movie. I personally think it's because there are a lot of people that have forgotten what true cinema is, and the filmmakers that made this movie come from the golden age of film. This one could very well be one of the last of it's kind. Anyone who cherishes the art of cinema should check this out. It is a master class in creative storytelling. and Robert de Niro playing two characters was awesome. some folks said it was hard to tell them apart but I thought it was very well done and easy to distinguish. It was pretty fluid for me. Enjoy the movie!
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsWas not a big fan of Robert and after viewing this sorry excuse for a movie, It seems I just have gotten to dislike the guy. De Niro need to retire while he still can.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsAlthought it didn't have the flair of the older mob movies this was still pretty good. A little slow at times but I still enjoyed it
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI had high hopes for this but I've just finished watching and its terrible! Two hours of my life that I'm never getting back.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsGreat acting, good plot with a few surprising twists. The dual role was a fun idea but it was a bit absurd how little difference there was between the two of them. They looked the same (obviously), had extremely similar clothing styles and de Niro even used the same gestures for both of them.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGreat movie, loved the dual roles with Deniro, and the plot moved quickly. Definitely worth going to see.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThis is a movie where Robert De Niro the man virtually born to play in mob movies plays not one, but two mob boss AND narrates the whole thing. It should be a no-brainer fun watch. Unfortunately, it is not and turned into a literal snooze fest for me. Very little happens. It is mostly just talking and half of that talking is just narrating. I wanted so much more from this movie, but found it extremely boring. There was absolutely no reason it needed to break the two hour mark and could’ve easily cut 20 or more minutes from the run time. It was well made and visually appealing, but feels like they just got Robert De Niro and decided to throw some money at a bad script mob movie thinking it is bound to work. It did not.
