- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsExtremely strong and commanding performance by Saoirse Ronan in a moody yet beautiful remote setting. Interesting non-linear story telling makes this powerful story of addiction even more engaging and heartbreaking
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsRonan pretty much rules and it's got some good ideas but sometimes leans too much on tropes
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThis is a gripping look at the pain and depths of alcoholism played extremely well by Saoirse Ronan. She does a fantastic job and is truly where this movie begins and ends as it is largely a one woman movie with a few much smaller characters. The scenery of the island off of Scotland was breathtaking and a great setting for it all. The flashing back and forth sometimes got a bit confusing (helped a bit with a change of hair color) and the movie never really had a climax or proper ending. But I enjoyed it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars'The Outrun' is an honest and emotionally crafted exploration of addiction and recovery, anchored by Saoirse Ronan's powerful performance.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOne of the best performances of the year. She knocks it out of the work portraying what an actual alcoholic behaves and goes through.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsI’m grateful that the movie addressed the serious problems with being an active alcoholic, first in denial about the problem and then the challenges of getting sober. There were many moving scenes, but I was hoping for a lot more cathartic moments in the recovery process. It left me wanting more inner work. She spends a lot of time in isolation for her remedy, and while there are some good things about getting away to get clarity, isolation is not a viable solution to staying sober. I enjoyed the movie and yet had hope for more depth and ‘meat to chew on’ as far as the inner work that needed to stay clean and sober, on a daily basis.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThe Outrun is a 2024 drama film directed by Nora Fingscheidt 🐦 Can’t recommend it. Meh, it passed the time. Sort of. 😕 Rona, fresh out of rehab, returns to the Orkney Islands; a place both wild and beautiful right off the Scottish coast. After more than a decade of living life on the edge in London, where she both found and lost love, Rona – now 29 – attempts to come to terms with her troubled past. As she reconnects with the dramatic landscape where she grew up, memories of her traumatic childhood merge with more recent challenging events that have set her on the path to recovery.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsShe is such an amazing actress. I wish she was in more films or series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe best ending scene of the year!
