Wake Up

It may not exactly reinvent the wheel, but no one can doubt the dedication to their craft and the undisguised glee this team takes in their approach to making genre movies that demand to be experienced in a cinema

A lean, mean – emphasis on mean- horror effort that scratches that slasher itch.

While some of the showdowns might satiate bloodthirsty genre aficionados, there’s not much underlying suspense to heighten the stakes.

Wake Up is a superb, streamlined slasher with a simplicity that radiates the same universal appeal as a late-night In-N-Out burger.

Wake Up mostly plays it safe, resulting in a horror movie that's fun without being scary, but then comes the last five minutes. Wake Up suddenly, er, wakes up with a shocking ending.

It is, admittedly, a deviously great idea for a thriller that ... unfortunately ... becomes far too contrived in its effort to keep itself going.

Uninspired, tedious and unimaginative.

With 'Wake Up', RKSS play with slasher tropes in a more modern setting and context, unafraid to tear open flesh and pierce organs.

While there is certainly carnage aplenty throughout, all of the characters are so colorless and unpleasant that few viewers will find themselves caring at all as they get bumped off in increasingly gruesome ways.

It’s worth a late-night viewing but isn’t a rewatchable genre classic.
